earlier this evening i had a conversation with a friend and i am afraid that i didnt communicate my point effectively. thus this entry. so here goes:
worship is not external, but internal.
the act of raising ones hands byitself is not worship.
for that matter, neither is singing or playing an instrument.
what makes these things worship is the motive that lies behind them
when the motive (Jesus) is in place the external (the above mentioned actions) will follow naturally.
thats why anything that is done with pleasing the lord as the motivating factor behind it, is worship
so if one is to "practice" worship one should not focus on the resulting action but rather the motive.
or in other words, create an atmosphere of worship (get us focused on Jesus) and then we will really (not just practice, but really) worship i hope that makes sense.
if it doesnt let me know and i'll try yet again.
