It's my parent's 40th wedding anniversary this coming Saturday.
My brother and his wife bought my mom a diamond and ruby necklace and told me it was my job to buy something for my dad.
I am so broke right now it physically hurts.
My phone and internet will probably be turned off soon. I won't even be close to paying off my rent. Shit, I can barely feed myself.
Their idea was to buy my dad a gold pocket watch with something nice engraved on it.
All I could afford was this cheap one I could find online, and I couldn't really afford that.
I bought it and had it shipped directly to my brother so that he could mail it with the gift for my mom.
Apparently, the watch looks just as cheap as it was.
My sister-in-law just asked me if I would be offended if they "upgraded" to a nicer watch.
I told them no.
And I suppose I am not offended, just heart-broken.
I hate being poor.
I hate it so fucking much.
I wish I could do something nice for somebody every once in a while.
I wish I wasn't such a god-damned failure.
