two things i learned last night.
1. guiness has a way of sneaking up on you.
2. being drunk is entirely different than how how i imagined it.
it started out innocent enough, and actually remained innocent the whole time.
starting out at a coffee shop where i watched as my friend chris did his best singer/songwriter schtick in front of a group of uncaring individuals who sipped their coffee without ever looking up from their books.
it lead to conversations about how all of our parent's think we are homosexuals.
(is it weird that i, someone who is mistaken for being gay, am attracted to someone who is commonly believed to be a lesbian?)
these talks led us to the wayfarer; the english/irish pub next door.
(dont the english and the irish hate each other? its like seeing an OU/ A&M sports bar.)
the music there was loud but good. some sort of non-stylish middle aged bluesy kind of jam band. my favorite being the very short and stout clarinetist who, from the neck up, looked like a hipster with her short hair and john lennon type glasses, but from the neck down looked just like a male trucker.
i watched her tattoos flex as she played her solo.
we also watched as this older, overweight gentleman, loosed of his inhibitions, dance with an amazing grace.
he danced with every girl in the bar.
he danced very iffeminently while, at the same time, looking intently at the butt or breast of whomever it was he was dancing with.
one of the girls i was with said that he was me in ten years.
i said that i could only dream.
sometime after this, i realized how loud i was becoming, how i was saying my thoughts out loud without intending to do so, how happy i felt.
now, i dont know if i was drunk. after all, i only had one beer and i didnt even finish it.
however, if i was, i could not attest to the light headedness or lack of inhibitions that supposedly accompanied such states of alchohal induced euphoria.
but i do know that i slept really well last night.
in any case, i think that next time i will eat more beforehand.
i guess thats the moral lesson for today.
